New York Jets running back Le'Veon Bell did not play during his team's win over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday due to an illness, but it's looking like the Jets could have him back this week.

According to Connor Hughes of The Athletic, Jets head coach Adam Gase said that Bell is “pretty close to 100 percent,” an indication that he could be ready for New York's Week 15 matchup with the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday.

Bell is in his first season with the Jets after signing a lucrative four-year deal with the club back in March, but the results in Year 1 have not been what most expected.

In the 12 games he has played, Bell has rushed for just 589 yards and three touchdowns while averaging a meager 3.2 yards per carry. He has been somewhat of a factor as a receiver, logging 55 catches for 403 yards and a score, but this is not the same Le'Veon Bell we saw during his Pro Bowl days with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The 27-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Michigan State, was originally selected by the Steelers in the second round (48th pick overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft.

He spent the first six years of his career in Pittsburgh, although he sat out all of 2018 as a result of a contract dispute.

Bell ultimately made three Pro Bowls and earned a pair of First-Team All-Pro selections during his time with the Steelers.

But, like just about everything else with the Jets this season, things have not gone according to plan for Bell in 2019.
