The New York Jets have ushered in some significant changes this offseason. Fortunately, it appears they will finally be able to welcome one of their newer faces to the practice field in defensive tackle Quinnen Williams.
Williams has been nursing a calf injury over the last few weeks and was unable to fully participate in practice during that time. According to Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk, head coach Adam Gase says he will be good to go next week:

We had him for a week, but it just wasn’t enough time to get him ready and just kind of had a little bit of a scare with his calf.”
This is certainly an encouraging update on Williams. The Jets made quite the investment when they selected him with the third overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. So it should come as no surprise that they are taking a cautious approach with his recovery.
Williams is among the new building blocks in this revamped Jets defense. As a result, it is safe to say that he will be expected to make an immediate impact in New York next season. Although they are coming off a disappointing 2018 campaign, there is still plenty of optimism about a potential resurgence in the 2019 NFL season. The Jets will need Williams and their other key pieces to be as healthy as possible if they hope to follow through on their goals.
