The University of Southern California's quarterback coach and offensive coordinator Kingsbury was originally barred from speaking to any NFL teams concerning their head coach openings. The school had just hired him around a month ago.
He was only fired just this year as the head coach of Texas Tech. He coached there for six years finishing with a 35-40 total record. They reached three bowl games in his time in Texas and won only one.
Kingsbury has interest from all over the NFL. The Arizona Cardinals are still looking for an offensive mind to fill their coaching vacancy. However, the Green Bay Packers had just filled their coaching vacancy on Monday by bringing in former Tennesse Titans offensive coordinator Matt LeFleur.
It's unclear if Kingsbury will still have a position at the school if he doesn't take a job elsewhere. He might've resigned seeing that the school did not permit him to interview for other positions. However, it's likely that he will keep the two positions on their staff moving forward.
When ESPN representatives had asked if Kingsbury had resigned, a USC spokesperson stated, “He's still listed on our website's athletic department staff directory.”
Kingsbury is likely looking for a head coaching job in the professional ranks. It remains to be seen what his decision will be. Unless offered a position as an offensive coordinator elsewhere, he'll probably stay with USC.
Last season, the Jets went 4-12 in a very disappointing campaign.
