The Baltimore Ravens didn't lose offensive lineman Alex Lewis for nothing after all. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the New York Jets sent a conditional seventh-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft to the Ravens in exchange for the veteran offensive lineman, who Baltimore had previously planned to release.

Lewis announced in an Instagram post on Monday that he had been waived by the Ravens.

Appreciate all my teammates and coaches I have met along the way. Loved the atmosphere of Baltimore and the amazing fans that supported us! Unfortunately, I was released today. Thank you Baltimore! ‘As one door closes another opens.”
A fourth-round pick in 2016 out of Nebraska, Lewis appeared in 10 games for Baltimore last season, starting each of them at left guard. He played in 10 games in 2017, too, starting eight while splitting time between let guard and left tackle.
The 27-year-old opened training camp on the Physically Unable to perform list after undergoing offseason surgery. He previously missed the entire 2017 season following a shoulder injury suffered during preseason play that landed him on injured reserve. According to NFL.com's Kevin Patra, the Ravens' plans to release Lewis indicate that he's gained a clean bill of health and should be ready to contribute for the Jets immediately.
Expect the fourth-year veteran to battle for playing time as New York's top reserve offensive lineman, filling in at guard and tackle as needed.
