Could Adam Gase be staying in the AFC East? Maybe so.
According to Jeff Darlington of ESPN, the New York Jets will interview Gase for their head-coaching job this Friday. This will mark the second interview Gase has had this week, as he met with the Arizona Cardinals on Wednesday.
Gase was fired from the Miami Dolphins almost immediately after their season-ending loss to the Buffalo Bills.
He spent three years as head coach of the Dolphins, going 23-25 overall. He actually led Miami to 10 wins and a playoff appearance during his first year with the club in 2016, but since then, things have been rocky, as Gase won just six games in 2017 and went only 7-9 this season.
The Jets are looking for a new coach after firing Todd Bowles following a four-year stint with the team.
Article Continues BelowBowles went 26-40 in New York and had a run somewhat similar to Gase. During his first year with the Jets in 2015, New York went 10-6 and narrowly missed the playoffs after a devastating Week 17 loss to the Buffalo Bills. Bowles appeared to have the team headed in the right direction, but in 2016, the Jets went just 5-11 and then repeated that performance in 2017.
Things got even worse this year, as New York won just four games.
The Jets have not made the playoffs since the 2010-11 campaign and have posted just one winning season since then. Since 2007, they have made the playoffs just twice, making back-to-back AFC Championship Game appearances during the 2010-11 and 2011-12 campaigns.
They have finished in last place in the AFC East three years in a row.
