The New York Jets have a renewed sense of optimism around the organization following the selection of former USC quarterback Sam Darold with the third overall pick in this year's draft. This has placed the focus on the team showing some notable steps forward offensively in the 2018 campaign.
Among those players that will be tasked with helping that cause will be veteran wide receiver Quincy Enunwa, who is still recovering from a neck injury that required surgery that forced him to miss the entire 2017 season. According to Rich Cimini of ESPN, Enunwa voiced on earlier this week that he is ahead of schedule toward making his return to the field.
This is quite encouraging news for the franchise given that Enunwa's potential return could provide another huge asset to the passing game. Prior to his neck injury, the 25-year-old showed promise by hauling in 58 receptions for 857 receiving yards and four touchdowns. He demonstrated the ability to make big plays down the field after the catch that given reason to believe he can step into a prominent role.
His return help brings more stability to the offense in the passing game alongside Jermaine Kearse, Robby Anderson, and offseason addition Terrelle Pryor. At this point, there is no certainty that Anderson's future secure with the team but Enunwa could quickly provide production at the position if anything were to come about.
If there is anything to take away from this is that the Jets appear to have one of their receiving options back in the mix for what could be a highly entertaining 2018 season in New York.
