The New York Jets were elated to draft BYU quarterback Zach Wilson with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Expectations are for the rookie to come in and compete for the starting gig right away. However, he first needs to sign with the Jets which still hasn't happened.
As training camp begins for all 32 teams in the NFL, Wilson remains one of three first-round picks to remain unsigned. The other two are 49ers quarterback Trey Lance and Chargers offensive lineman Rashawn Slater.
While it's not time to panic and a deal will likely get done soon, Jets coach Robert Saleh chimed in on Tuesday on the ongoing situation saying he isn't worried in his press conference that was posted to YouTube.

I’ve got a lot of faith in Zach, too,” Saleh said. “He’s incredibly intelligent, he’s got a tremendous drive. So when he does get here, I know that somehow, some way, he’ll make up for it.”
New York moved on from Sam Darnold in the offseason, trading him away to the Panthers clearing the way for them to take yet another shot at landing a franchise quarterback in the draft. While they had plenty of options to go through after Trevor Lawrence went No. 1 overall, it became clear in the lead up to the draft that the Jets were going to go with Wilson.
Now, the Jets are just waiting for the contract to be agreed upon so the rookie can dazzle in camp.
