New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold and defensive back Jamal Adams have quickly become two major cornerstones of the AFC East franchise, a team that is certainly on the rise. With the Jets fresh off of a win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, a game that New York was not initially expected to win despite playing at home, Darnold and Adams do not think that this team is very far away from consistent success.
“We’re not that far away, man, we’re really not,” Adams recently said, via ESPN. “I want people to understand that. It might seem like it is, but we have to put our head down and keep grinding.”
Accumulating six regular-season wins thus far into the 2019-20 campaign, the Jets have partially exceeded expectations down the stretch as New York did not get off to the hottest start. Not only that, but Darnold was forced to the sideline for an extended period of time due to a bout of mononucleosis midway through the year.
“I think we’re not too far away,” Darnold added, via ESPN. “We do need to play more consistent football, especially on offense, but there are definitely some bright spots that we can continue to work on this offseason.”
Now 6-9 on the year with a chance to finish with seven wins when all is said and done, the Jets will take on the rival Buffalo Bills in Week 17 with the former currently in store for a long offseason and the latter headed to the postseason.
