Quincy Enunwa has signed his restricted free agent tender with the New York Jets worth $2.9 million, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Schefter also reports that Enunwa has full range of motion following neck surgery and will be eased into football activities.

Enunwa, a former sixth-round pick by the Jets, missed the entire 2017 season due to that neck surgery. Prior to suffering that injury, the 25-year-old had a breakout 2016 season as he had 58 catches for 857 yards and four touchdowns.

The fact that the Jets offered Enunwa a second-round tender likely points to their confidence in his ability to make a full recovery from that injury, and it sounds as if he’s progressing well.

Enunwa was expected to be one of the Jets’ top receiving targets last season prior to getting hurt. But now that he’s on track to return this year, he should be a significant part of a Jets receiving corps that features Robby Anderson, Jermaine Kearse, and free-agent signing Terrelle Pryor.

Anderson and Kearse put up some impressive numbers last season without Enunwa as they were basically the Jets' only reliable wide receivers. Anderson had a breakout year with 63 catches for 941 yards and seven touchdowns, while Kearse had 65 catches for 810 yards and five TDs.

However, Kearse’s future with the team remains uncertain since they can save $5.55 million on their cap by cutting him. If the Jets do decide to part ways with Kearse, Enunwa will likely need to step up and take on a good number of his targets alongside Anderson.
