Former Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield has become one of the most polarizing players at his position in this year's NFL Draft class. His strong personality on and off the field has been at the center of the discussion regarding his draft stock.
He hasn't exactly rubbed everyone the right away in the pre-draft process with teams getting a closer look at him leading up to the 2018 NFL Draft later this month. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, this led an NFL general manager giving a not-so-glowing assessment of Mayfield.

There is no shortage of confidence from the 22-year-old in his ability on the field, and in the minds of some, he has gone over the top with his behavior. This was the case on a few instances last season where he was involved in grabbing his crouch on the sideline against Kansas after planting the University of Oklahoma flag in the middle of the field at Ohio Stadium after beating Ohio State.
Mayfield is a talented player on the field that has shown to be a highly accurate and efficient passer, but his maturity level has also come into question. It has created some pause from NFL teams that could have interest in him being their next franchise quarterback. However, Mayfield will have the opportunity to change that narrative with whatever organization winds up taking him in this year's draft.
He will have a fresh, new slate where he can show that he has improved in that aspect of his character, as being the starting quarterback entails representing the franchise as their face. This is a huge responsibility in front of him, and this type of behavior at the next level could cost him his job or future opportunities to garner that role. Only time will tell if Mayfield can demonstrate growth in that area as an NFL quarterback.
