Storylines surrounding the 2018 NFL Draft have been headlined by the prospect of Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson potentially switching positions to wide receiver. It was facilitated by reports that teams had requested he participate in drills with the wideouts at the NFL Combine.

However, it seems even Jackson is hearing this for the first time. According to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk, the former Heisman Trophy winner says no team has asked him to work out as a wide receiver:

“No team asked me to try out at wide receiver,” Jackson said. “I don’t know where that came from. I’m strictly a quarterback.”

There has been plenty of controversy about the rumors regarding a potential position change. Jackson enjoyed the most decorated college careers of any player in this year's draft. Yet, he seems to be the only quarterback that has had to deal with doubts at his primary position.

However, Jackson has made it clear that he fully intends to remain under center since that is where he has played his entire football career. It goes without saying that it has served him pretty well thus far. That said, teams interested in drafting him better make sure it is with the intention of adding a quarterback to the team.

Jackson is one of the most electrifying athletes in the draft thanks to his ability as a dual-threat quarterback. However, his trouble with accuracy has been the biggest knock on his draft stock thus far, which may have helped lead to all the speculation in the first place. Regardless, Jackson has done more than enough to be at least given a shot to prove himself at the next level.
