Earlier Wednesday, news broke that San Francisco 49ers All-Pro wide receiver Deebo Samuel wants to be traded. As if this NFL offseason hasn't already been crazy enough. Now one of the best playmakers in football could be on the move. After that news broke, a couple of Philadelphia Eagles players let it be known they have their eyes open on the situation.

Pro Bowl cornerback Darius Slay and fellow corner Avonte Maddox both tweeted “eyes looking” emoji. They certainly aren't the only ones interested to see how this plays out.
There are a number of teams that could use an elite wide receiver. The Eagles are certainly among them. They have been looking for a true X receiver for years, having gone through numerous flops and failures. Philadelphia might have finally found a very good, if not elite receiver in Devante Smith.
Article Continues BelowSmith had a breakout year for the Eagles in 2021. But there is still room for growth. Knowing the type offense the Eagles run, Samuel would be an ideal fit. He brings physicality to a position that generally lacks exactly that. He can run the ball as well as he can run routes and catch passes.
However, it likely does not matter how much Slay would love to add Deebo to Philadelphia's roster. If the 49ers did decide to trade the Pro Bowl receiver, more than likely it would be to a team in the AFC. The New York Jets were initially talked about as the most likely landing spot. They have cap space and a desperate need.
Wherever Samuel does land, whether that's with the Eagles or somewhere else, he is sure to improve the team.
