Scouts, coaches and team executives looking to see Ohio State defensive end Chase Young work out at the NFL Combine will be out of luck. Per NFL Insider Adam Schefter, Young will not participate in drills at the combine, but will still be available for interviews and medical testing. Young will then reportedly participate in drills at Ohio State's pro day.
Young is a consensus top-five pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, with most experts having him at No. 2 to the Washington Redskins. One of the most impressive defensive end prospects in recent memory, Young is expected to be a future star in the league.
At 6-foot-5 and 265 pounds with incredible athleticism and physical tools to match, Young has scouts salivating. In his Junior year at Ohio State, Young managed to record 46 tackles, 21 tackles for a loss, 16.5 sacks, and seven forced fumbles despite only playing in 12 games.
Top picks deciding to not participate in drills at the combine isn't exactly uncommon. 2019 No. 1 overall pick Kyler Murray did not participate in drills at last year's event.
