In a letter shared to Twitter, Eason thanked everyone at the University of Washington for his time there, but noted that he’s going to be following his dream of playing in the NFL. According to Eason, playing as a professional quarterback had been “a lifelong dream” of his, and he noted that “my heart is set on the challenge ahead.”
Article Continues BelowEason will finish his season as Washington’s quarterback with 3,132 yards, 23 touchdowns, and eight interceptions to go along with completing 64.2 percent of his passes. Eason transferred to Washington last year from Georgia, but sat out the entire season because of it.
When it comes to the NFL, Eason projects to be one of the first quarterbacks taken. In a class that will likely feature a ton of talented quarterbacks, including Heisman winner Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert, and Tua Tagovailoa just to name a few, Eason’s position on draft boards will be interesting to watch.
He certainly has the talent necessary to become an NFL quarterback, but whether or not any teams will take a chance on him over the quarterbacks named above remains to be seen. With a full offseason of training and NFL Draft Combine workouts to come, it’ll be interesting to see how Jacob Eason stacks up with his competition, especially as the latest draft season nears.
