There has been some speculation regarding former star quarterback Peyton Manning's return to the NFL. At this point, it seems to be a matter of whether or not he wants to go through with it.

Manning's football knowledge and colorful personality make him a perfect candidate as the next great broadcaster. According to Michael McCarthy of The Sporting News, he is reportedly set to decide whether or not to become the next lead analyst for FOX:

Manning is expected to make a decision this week regarding the pending offer from FOX to serve as the lead analyst for Thursday Night Football.

Much like in his playing says, Manning has garnered plenty of attention from networks trying to recruit him. However, FOX stepped in with a monster offer of $10 million per year. McCarthy added that the network had already given Manning a deadline to make his decision last Friday.

Manning, the two-time Super Bowl winner with the Broncos and Colts, had a “soft” deadline last Friday on whether he'll move to TV the way fellow quarterback Tony Romo did with CBS Sports last season, said sources.

It should come as no surprise that FOX is bending over backward for Manning's services. CBS struck gold with the addition of former star quarterback Tony Romo to their booth. His knowledge and uncanny ability to predict plays made him one of the most highly-praised broadcasters in the business.

FOX is hoping they can mirror that sort of intrigue to their games on Thursday night. Needless to say, TNF has received plenty of flak from both fans and players alike for its lackluster games on a short week's notice. As a result, they could be hoping to spice up the game by adding Manning to the booth.
