On Tuesday evening, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell sent a memo to every franchise in regards to the closing of each team's facility in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. Nonetheless, it appears as though Goodell still expects to see his league perform on the world's biggest stage for the upcoming 2020-21 season.
Of course, it is hard to tell as to what exactly will happen with the sports world — the NFL included — but it appears as though Goodell is as optimistic as it gets at the moment.

Even though a memo was sent out on Tuesday, the league has been operating both as usual and under unusual parameters since the start of the league year, which officially kicked off just last week. Even though NFL free agency is still in full swing with the 2020 NFL Draft still on the immediate horizon, the league has been unable to perform the usual tasks of hosting press conferences for new signees in addition to getting a closer look at collegiate prospects ahead of the annual event slated for late April.
While the NFL is not currently in the midst of its regular-season schedule, the league is in a bit of a different spot than most. On the other hand, Major League Baseball, the National Basketball Association, and National Hockey League were all forced to halt all in-season activities with no end currently in sight. Not only that, but the NBA and NHL were midway through their respective campaigns when the COVID-19 outbreak reached the United States in full force. Additionally, this Thursday was slated to serve as MLB's Opening Day in 2020 with the league previously pausing its spring training.
