The period between the end of minicamp and start of training camp is the last opportunity NFL players have for some rest and relaxation before focusing on the regular season grind. As one of football's foremost veterans, Greg Olsen knows how to take advantage of that allotted time more than most.
While walking the streets of Nashville on Thursday night, the Carolina Panthers tight end happened to come across a man on one knee proposing to his significant other. Rather than playing it cool and letting the young couple enjoy a moment they'll remember for the rest of their lives, Olsen took out his phone to begin recording, as noted by celebrity gossip site TMZ.
“This is the best thing I've ever witnessed,” Olsen said as the pair embraced. “Dude, I am so sending this to you!”
A 12-year veteran, Olsen has been a stalwart for the Panthers since being traded from the Chicago Bears in July 2011. He made the Pro Bowl three years running in 2014, 2015, and 2016 before injuries limited him to just 16 combined games over the past two seasons. In 2018, Olsen had 27 catches for 291 yards and four scores in nine games, catching a career-best 71.1 percent of his targets.
Olsen went on injured reserve in Week 15 of last season after rupturing the plantar fascia in his foot during a game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. That setback stemmed from the 34-year-old re-fracturing his surgically-repaired foot in Week 1, an injury that caused him to miss the next three games after Carolina’s season-opener.
He was cleared for full contact last month.
