There's not much to look forward to when you're a Washington Redskins fan. However, Adrian Peterson's possible return to the team may convince some to actually tune in to their upcoming match against the Detroit Lions.

Adam Schefter was one of the first to report the update that was enough to send a couple of Washington fans into a rush to buy the inexplicably cheap tickets at FedEx Field in Landover.

Peterson has been quiet in comparison to the rest of the top running backs in the NFL, but it's important to remember that he's still notched 516 rushing yards at the ripe old age of 34. His athleticism is slowly abandoning him, and he will eventually have to hang it up.

However, the fact that he can still play at the top of his game in spite of his age is a testament to how great he's been as a runner. He'll definitely be an important piece to the Washington offense if he does manage to suit up.

Peterson will likely split reps with Derrius Guice, who made his return to the line-up last week against the New York Jets after missing several weeks due to knee surgery. Guice had seven carries for 24 yards against the Jets.

Peterson and Guice will look to provide rookie quarterback Dwayne Haskins with a reliable running game against the Lions. Detroit isn't the strongest opponent in the NFL — they're giving up 124.2 rushing yards per game, 24th in the league — so fans can expect to see a bit of vintage Adrian Peterson to resurface.
