The Philadelphia Eagles are coming off a 2018 campaign in which they won nine games and snuck into the playoffs, upsetting the Chicago Bears in the Wild Card Round before losing to the New Orleans Saints in the Divisional Round.

Then, during the offseason, the Eagles put to rest any questions of a quarterback controversy going into 2019, allowing Super Bowl hero Nick Foles to walk via free agency before extending Carson Wentz.

With Wentz being younger and more talented overall, it was certainly the right move, but it's one that will certainly be scrutinized this year and beyond pending Wentz' performance.

Philadelphia certainly has a chance to make some noise this coming season, but there are some reasons to exercise caution.

Here are three areas of concern for the Eagles heading into 2019:

3. The No. 1 Receiver

Philadelphia certainly has a ton of depth at wide receiver, but oddly enough, the Eagles don't really have a true No. 1 wide out.

Neither Alshon Jeffery nor DeSean Jackson are No. 1 receivers at this stage of their careers, but one of them will likely have to assume that role. The question is, can the Eagles make up for their lack of a dynamic No. 1 with their depth? Or will not having a Pro Bowl-caliber receiver end up hurting them in the long run?

Philly also has Nelson Agholor and rookie JJ Arcega-Whiteside at receiver, and we can't forget that tight end Zach Ertz may very well end up being Wentz's favorite target regardless.

So, the Eagles absolutely have options. It's just a matter of whether or not their lack of a clear-cut No. 1 guy will be a detriment.

2. The Secondary

The Eagles have a whole lot of question marks in the secondary, particularly at cornerback.

Ronald Darby is entering his third season with the club but has not been able to stay healthy, playing in just 17 games combined over his first two years in Philadelphia. As for the other cornerback slot? It seems to be a race between Jalen Mills, Rasul Douglas, and Sidney Jones, and while all three of those guys are young, they are all very unproven.

Couple that with the fact that safety Malcolm Jenkins seems to have lost a step, and there is certainly some cause for concern in Philly's defensive backfield going into this season.

It's not like the Eagles were any good against the pass in 2018, either, ranking 30th in pass defense, but that was in part to a rash of injuries at defensive back.

1. Carson Wentz's Health

We know that when Wentz is on the field, he can play. This kid is a really good quarterback, and two years ago, he was an MVP candidate before going down with a torn ACL.

And that's just the thing: we don't know if Wentz is going to be able to stay healthy.

In 2017, the ACL tear knocked him out late in the season and led to Foles taking over and leading the Eagles to a Super Bowl. Then, this past year, a back injury sidelined Wentz after 11 games, and Foles once again stepped in and took Philly to the playoffs.

The thing is, this time around, Foles won't be around to save the Eagles if Wentz goes down again.

Wentz has been in the NFL for three years, and he has played just one full season. That is undoubtedly a concern, and he'll have to remain healthy all season long in 2019 if Philadelphia wants to have a chance of contending for another title.
