The Carson Wentz era appears to be over with the Philadelphia Eagles. It has garnered conversations about the legacy that Wentz will leave behind.

Louie DiBase and Gino Cammilleri, the hosts of the daily Locked On Eagles podcast, discussed what they think of when talking about the Carson Wentz era. It may be different than what people think.

Cammilleri: How do we view his career with the Eagles? Before I get into anything regarding the Super Bowl win in 2017, or the 2018 and 2019 stretch with Carson, 2020 has obviously been one of the worst individual seasons I have ever seen for a quarterback for the Eagles. Before I get into any of that and how it weighs into his legacy, the first thing that comes to mind when you ask me about how we look at Wentz’s stint with the Eagles, this is what I think of. The Eagles deciding to go after Carson Wentz in 2016.

Them deciding to trade Sam Bradford, but even before that, deciding even with Sam Bradford and Chase Daniel in house. They decided to leapfrog up from 13 to pick 8 to pick 2 to go get Carson Wentz out of North Dakota State. When they decided to go after Carson, I think that represented a change in the mindset in this organization, a change in philosophy. This team was done with the bridge quarterbacks. They were done with the Sam Bradford level quarterbacks, the Kevin Cobb’s, the Michael Vick’s, even the Nick Foles’ of the world. Those kinds of quarterbacks, they were done settling for that caliber of player.
