Prior to the trade deadline, the Philadelphia Eagles made the big splash move to acquire former Pro Bowl wide receiver Golden Tate from the Detroit Lions. It has brought aboard another proven wideout that adds another asset to their passing game this season. In light of that, Pro Bowl quarterback Carson Wentz has voiced his excitement about the addition of Tate to the mix that he believes into the fold well on and off the field, according to Nick Fierro of The Morning Call.

“Adding a piece like that is exciting,” he said. “A guy with the big-play ability that Golden brings, you see him making highlight plays all the time and just things he can do after the catch gets you excited. Obviously we haven’t practiced yet, so it will be pretty cool to finally get out there today and kind of see how he moves and get to know him as a receiver and everything.

“So getting to know him off the field just a little bit, definitely excited to work with him. I think he fits in really well with this culture and he can help us for sure.”

In his last four-plus years with the Lions, Golden Tate has stepped to produce like one of better wide receivers in the league that saw him notch three 1,000 receiving yard campaigns. He has also got off to a start this year with 44 catches for 517 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

Tate has a chance in front of him to become a key part in the passing game for the Eagles in their push toward the playoffs. He could step in to be one of the primary receiving threats alongside tight end Zach Ertz and wideout Alshon Jeffery that could bring another element to the table.

What this move signifies is that Philadelphia has plenty of confidence in Carson Wentz to utilize Tate's ability on the field while pushing the team back into the postseason picture to contend for another Super Bowl.
