DeSean Jackson may soon be flying with the Philadelphia Eagles once again.

The three-time Pro Bowler announced on Monday that he won't be playing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2019. Though other reports indicated the team has yet to officially release Jackson, his days with the Buccaneers certainly appear over nonetheless – whether they waive or trade him.

In the immediate wake of Jackson's announcement, ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported that he and the Philadelphia Eagles are “destined for each other barring the unforeseen.”

That news affirms a report from ESPN's Jenna Laine and Tim McManus on Sunday night that the Buccaneers were working the phones in hope of trading Jackson, and that the Eagles were his preferred destination.

“On the eve of the NFL's legal tampering period, sources told ESPN that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been actively shopping wide receiver DeSean Jackson for a potential trade and that the Philadelphia Eagles would be a preferred destination for Jackson,” Laine and McManus wrote.

“The Eagles are expected to have mutual interest in Jackson, who would provide the deep threat they sorely lacked in 2018…”

Jackson underperformed the three-year, $33.5 million contract he signed with Tampa Bay in March of 2017. Though he led the NFL in yards per catch last season for the fourth time in his career, he caught just 41 passes for 774 yards and four touchdowns.

The 11-year veteran posted similar numbers during his first season with the Buccaneers, with 50 catches for 668 yards and three scores.

Jackson, 32, first rose to stardom at the top of the decade with the Eagles, making the Pro Bowl as a returner in 2009 and 2010 before going back as a receiver three years later.
