Since Week 2, Philadelphia Eagles veteran wide receiver Mike Wallace has been out of action due to a fractured fibula that required surgery.
There had initially been the expectation that he could possibly miss the rest of the season, but it appears that Wallace has made some notable progress that could put him on track to be on the field at some point this season, according to Mike Garafolo of The NFL Network.
#Eagles WR Mike Wallace will ditch the walking boot soon. Believes he could be running within two weeks. From there, it’s a matter of getting in game shape. Very possible he can make a return this season.

This is an encouraging sign for the Eagles to potentially have one of their playmaking wideouts back in the mix in the second half of the year. Although had failed to make a single catch through the first two games, he has a chance to be a factor as a legitimate deep-ball threat that could stretch the field. Wallace has shown that throughout his career that he can be a huge factor in that regard. He has hauled in a pass of 50 or more yards in all but once in his career.
Mike Wallace is still a few weeks away from making his return, but he is progressing toward being back on the field. The Eagles have been battered by the injury bug this year and look to be finally getting healthy for the stretch run of the year. The team has also acquired a proven asset in the passing game in former Pro Bowl wideout Golden Tate from the Detriot Lions in a trade last week. Tate has a chance to step in to provide another element to the offense to help the Eagles make the push to the playoffs and another Super Bowl.
These next few weeks will be telling of the direction that the team will be headed while the potential return of Wallace will provide another boost to the offense for the stretch run of the season.
