The Nick Foles situation is one of the stranger and more interesting ones we have ever seen.

For the second year in a row, Foles has relieved quarterback Carson Wentz due to a late-season injury, and for the second year in a row, Foles is preparing to lead the Philadelphia Eagles through the playoffs.

Last season, that ended in the Eagles' first-ever Super Bowl title. That will be quite a bit more difficult to achieve this season, as Philadelphia is simply not as good as it was a year ago, but, nevertheless, here is Foles, once again leading the charge.

As a result of Foles' recent success, he will be in high demand this offseason (per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network), as he is set to become a free agent. He has a $20 million team option for next year, but the Eagles have said that Wentz will be their starting signal-caller moving forward.

Philadelphia can also place a franchise tag on Foles and then trade him, which seems like a distinct possibility.

After all, the Eagles received an offer that included a second-round draft pick for Foles last offseason, so there will definitely be interest for him in the trade market.

Of course, at that time, Foles was a year younger and had that extra year left on his deal, so it remains to be seen if Philly receives another offer such as that, but with quarterbacks at such a premium, teams may be willing to cough up that type of asset to land the soon-to-be-30-year-old.
