Nick Foles hasn't played a ton of games for the Philadelphia Eagles, but they have been quite special. After leading the Eagles to another win and setting a franchise record against the Houston Texans on Sunday, Foles admitted that he was a bit emotional because it may have been his last home game in Philly.
Last year, Foles led the Eagles to a Super Bowl victory. This season, with a win next Sunday and a Minnesota Vikings loss, he will put them back into the playoffs.
But even with everything Foles has done, it has been made clear that Carson Wentz is still the quarterback of this team when he is healthy. With Foles having a $20.6 million cap hit next season, it's hard to imagine the Eagles keeping him around at that price, which means Sunday's victory might have been his last home game in Philly.
“It did. It’s emotional,” Foles said in his postgame press conference via ProFootballTalk. “Like I said, I love playing in Philly. I knew there was a chance this could be it. I don’t think about the future, but I am aware off that because this city means a lot to me, this team means a lot to me, wearing that jersey means a lot to me. … This was a special one tonight. I don’t know what the future holds. I’m not going to worry about it. I’m just going to focus on now, enjoy just being in Philadelphia, enjoy the people, enjoy wearing this jersey because it’s some of the most special moments of my life.”
There is always a chance the two sides could restructure the deal again, but if this is Nick Foles' last ride with the Eagles, he will always go down as a hero in that town.
