The Philadelphia Eagles are apparently in the market for more playmakers. According to the Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle, the team was one of several to recently conduct a pre-draft workout with Penn State receive and return man DeAndre Thompkins.

Eagles fans should be especially familiar with Thompkins due to his time with the Nittany Lions. In four seasons in State College, he had 83 catches for 1,245 yards and six touchdowns, also returning 66 punts for 675 yards and two scores. The 5-foot-11, 192-pounder was named All Big 10 as a punt returner in 2017. During Penn State's Pro Day last month, Thompkins blazed to a 4.33 time in the 40-yard dash, which would have been the third-fastest time at this year's NFL combine.

He'll team with standout possession receiver Alshon Jeffery and electric slot receiver Nelson Agholor to give quarterback Carson Wentz one of the best stables of pass-catchers in the NFL, even before accounting for the presence of star tight end Zach Ertz, who blew up in 2018 with 116 catches for 1,163 yards and eight touchdowns.
But with ageless all-purpose playmaker Darren Sproles putting a decision on his playing future off until May, the Eagles are in need of stability in the return game — and Thompkins could give it to them.
Philadelphia, which amicably parted ways with part-time starting quarterback Nick Foles at the outset of free agency, went 9-7 last season, beating the Chicago Bears in the first round of the playoffs before falling to the New Orleans Saints.
