Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Ronald Darby re-signed with the team during the offseason, but will be looking to stay healthy and avoid the injury plagued status that has dominated his last couple of seasons. Thankfully for Darby and the Eagles, he plans on being ready to step in and participate in training camp.

“I’m going to be doing stuff in training camp,” Darby said (via Pro Football Talk).

Darby missed most of the final half of the 2018 regular season after tearing his ACL in Week 10. As he continues to try and rehab himself to get back into playing shape, Darby will likely miss all of the Eagles OTAs and minicamp sessions.

According to Darby, he’s begun running at close to the same speed that he was prior to his injury, and he’s beginning to feel much like his old self.

“I feel good. I feel really good,” Darby said. “Of course I don’t feel 100 percent, like myself, but I feel good.”

With a few more weeks to go until training camp hits the NFL, Darby will have some time to continue healing and training himself for the upcoming training camp.

Darby became the Eagles' highest paid cornerback when he signed his extension, and even though it was a one-year deal worth $6.5 million, Darby will still enter the season as one of the veteran leaders on the Eagles defense, and a crucial part of their secondary once the season begins.

Should the Eagles want to accomplish their goal and make it back to the Super Bowl, they’ll need major contributions from Darby, and hopefully for both parties, he’s capable of providing that.
