Nick Foles is very close to being granted sainthood in Philadelphia. That’s if the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback hasn’t been inducted as one. On Sunday, against the Chicago Bears on the road during an NFC wild-card matchup, Foles added to his legend in Philly by putting the Eagles in front late in the contest with a touchdown pass to wide receiver Golden Tate on a fourth-and-goal situation.
FOLES. TATE. SIX points for the @Eagles.

Foles and the Eagles had to score a touchdown in that play. Otherwise, their season is over and there would have been a guarantee that a new Super Bowl champion will be crowned this year. So Foles dug deep and showed the uncanny poise he had in last year’s Super Bowl 52 win against the New England Patriots by bucking the pressure and delivering the all-important touchdown package to Tate, another unlikely hero for the Eagles in this game. Tate was traded to Philadelphia last October in exchange for a pick in this year’s NFL Draft.
The Eagles tried to score after Tate’s touchdown on a two-point conversion attempt but failed. Fortunately for them, Bears kicker Cody Parkey missed 33-yard field goal try on the other end of the field that secured the Eagles a close 16-15 victory and a ticket to the next round of the playoffs.
Foles finished the Bears game with 266 passing yards and two touchdowns with a pair of interceptions on 25-of-40 completions. Tate, meanwhile, had 46 receiving yards to go along with his touchdown on five catches and eight targets.
The Eagles will next face the New Orleans Saints on the road on Sunday.
