Wendell Smallwood was waived by the Philadelphia Eagles and subsequently picked up by the Washington Redskins last week. On any other day, this wouldn't be too much of a strange deal for NFL fans.
However, what makes this different is that the Redskins will be playing the Eagles in Week 1 of the NFL season. With Smallwood just recently waived by the team, their tactics are still fresh on his mind.
In a strange (but heart-warming) move by the Redskins, they didn't bother pestering him about the team's offensive tactics at all.
Smallwood detailed how strange it felt when he wasn't tapped to talk about his former team's tactics.

To him, it may have felt like bringing your new partner to a party only to see your ex there as well. It wasn't like Smallwood would rat out his former team's tactics, though. He is also aware of the nature of the business:
“I won a Super Bowl with this team,” Smallwood said of the Eagles. “I can’t really sell my team out. The team means a lot to me. It was my childhood team.”
“It’s a business, it’s time to move on, and I’m ready to go. The film speaks for itself. We know what the Eagles do. We know how they play.”
It will be an odd sight for him to see his former teammates on the other side of the field, but he's more than ready to play his heart out for his new team. Fans of both sides can expect an entertaining bout between these two teams.
