The Washington Redskins made one blockbuster trade today, adding Case Keenum from the Broncos, and they won't be making another one. Washington is out on Antonio Brown, sources told Dianna Russini of ESPN. The Redskins had been named as a potential suitor for Brown's services, but they're dropping out of the running.

Jay Gruden's team is bowing out, further clearing the way for his brother Jon to land him in Oakland. A potential trade to the Redskins made sense for a few reasons, but was never really going to work out. The team desperately needs receiver help, and Brown would've provided a massive boost to their offense.

Former first round pick Josh Doctson has been a disappointment, Jamison Crowder is a free agent, and last year's big free agent acquisition, Paul Richardson, is frequently hurt.

Brown would've rejuvenated the fanbase and gotten them excited in a way they haven't been in a long time. But the financial aspect of things was never going to work out. Washington has very little cap space, and was never realistically going to be able to squeeze Brown's massive salary into their budget.

Them publicly backing out now only further decreases the Steelers' leverage in negotiations. Russini also reported that the Titans and Saints are officially out on Brown as well. The number of potential teams interested in Brown is dwindling by the hour, and it's leaving Pittsburgh with very few options.

All of this backs up the reporting that indicates the Steelers may have to settle for something less than the first round pick they've been demanding. Even though it won't be Brown, the Redskins need to upgrade their receiving corps next season no matter who their quarterback is.
