Ben Roethlisberger has continued to rehab during the offseason despite the limitations that players have had. While teams prepare for the 2020 season, Roethlisberger is expected to be a “full participant” in training camp for the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to Mike Tomlin.
During a conference call with local media members, Tomlin spoke about the team's plan for Roethlisberger in training camp:
“He’s been throwing, and that throwing has been going well,” Tomlin said, via Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “We don’t have any reservations about him being a full participant in this process.”
Tomlin, due to the implications of COVID-19, has been unable to witness Roethlisberger throw the football this offseason. However, the Steelers head coach is hearing that the veteran quarterback looks ready for the upcoming season.

After further testing, it was determined that Roethlisberger would miss the rest of the season. As a result, the Steelers would struggle with Mason Rudolph and Devlin Hodges replacing Roethlisberger.
Fortunately for Pittsburgh, Roethlisberger has been working tirelessly to return to the field in 2020. JuJu Smith-Schuster, who also dealt with injuries of his own a season ago, has been able to workout with Roethlisberger in bits and pieces this offseason. The fourth-year wide receiver believes Roethlisberger is back at 100 percent for the upcoming season.
Regardless of where Roethlisberger is in his recovery process, it's tough to believe he'd be worse than what the Steelers deployed at quarterback last season. But given Tomlin's recent comments, everyone will get a view of what Roethlisberger looks like when training camps get underway.
