The Pittsburgh Steelers are already without starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers on Sunday, as the team takes on the Chicago Bears. Things appear to be going from bad to worse for Pittsburgh, as wide receiver DK Metcalf is also hurt.
“Looks like Metcalf got hurt on Jaylen Warren's two-yard run. He was in as a blocker and got pushed down into a scrum of people,” ESPN's NFL reporter Brooke Pryor posted to X, formerly Twitter.
It didn't look good for Metcalf at first, as he went to the medical tent. Metcalf was able to return to the sideline, but got a murky injury update.
“DK Metcalf is questionable to return with an ankle injury,” Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reporter Ray Fittipaldo posted.
The Steelers are in Chicago to try and win a seventh game this season. Chicago is already 7-3 on the year. Pittsburgh got some good news as Metcalf was able to return to the contest. He also rushed for the team's first touchdown of the game.
Mason Rudolph got the start for the Steelers on Sunday, as Rodgers is dealing with an injured wrist. Rodgers had pushed to start the game, but was overruled. Rudolph looked sluggish at the start. He ended up throwing an interception early for Pittsburgh.
The Pittsburgh quarterback was then able to find a bit of a groove, leading the squad down the field on a few drives. Pittsburgh has put up 21 points before the end of the first half.
The Steelers and Bears are playing at time of writing. Chicago enters the game in first place in the NFC North.
