The Pittsburgh Steelers will be without their Pro Bowl running back for another week. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, James Conner is officially out for Sunday's matchup with the Los Angeles Rams.

Conner is dealing with a shoulder injury sustained in Week 8's win over the Miami Dolphins. He did not play in last Sunday's win over the Indianapolis Colts. Earlier in the week, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin was “optimistic” for Conner's return, citing his availability in practice as a catalyst to their decision-making. Ultimately, the training staff does not believe he is ready.

With Conner out, the Steelers could rely on tailbacks Trey Edmunds and Jaylen Samuels to carry the brunt of the rushing workload. Edmunds, the brother of Pittsburgh's starting safety, Terrell, led the Steelers in rushing against the Colts, carrying the ball 12 times for 73 yards in the win. Samuels recorded eight rushes for 10 yards while hauling in 13 receptions for 73 yards.

Unfortunately, Edmunds has missed much of the week's practice with a rib injury. Rookie running back Benny Snell has also struggled to stay healthy, as he has not practiced throughout the week with a knee injury. It is unknown if the two will play on Sunday.

If Conner, Edmunds, and Snell don't play, it will be the Samuels and Tony Brooks-James show for Pittsburgh. Brooks-James has recorded one rushing attempt for no yards in 2019. Expect Samuels to have a bell-cow day if the Steelers' injury-riddled running back corps do not regain their health before Sunday.
