Tomlin has been at the helm since the 2007 season where he successfully led the Steelers to a Super Bowl XLIII victory over the Arizona Cardinals in just his second campaign as head coach.
Back in 2010, he led the Steelers to another appearance in the championship stage for Super Bowl XLV but they eventually lost to the Green Bay Packers. Through 14 seasons, Tomlin steered the squad to a total of nine playoff appearances and a 145-78-1 overall record.

Even though the Steelers still found themselves atop the AFC North, they eventually succumbed to the Cleveland Browns in the AFC Wild Card Game by way of a 48-37 defeat. After witnessing their massive letdown, many thought that the Steelers would look for a new tactician in order to get back to their winning ways.
As it turned out, the team brass remained confident with Mike Tomlin's abilities to lead them back on the right track as proven by the signing of the contract extension. He will once again be tested as the Steelers aim to give a proper sendoff to veteran quarterback Ben Roethlisberger who is expected to play the final campaign of his illustrious career in the coming season.
