We all know Pittsburgh Steelers legend Jerome Bettis as a bruising running back who is one of the best to ever do it. But long before he began his NFL career, Bettis made a promise: To finish college at Notre Dame. He's done just that.
A promise made, a promise kept. 28 years after leaving @NotreDame, I’ve completed my degree from the Mendoza School of Business. I hope my journey serves as reminder that education is the true equalizer in life and it is never too late to start. pic.twitter.com/J0Xn7Up47n

The ex-Steelers star wants everyone to know just how important education really is. Bettis graduated in the class of 2022 with his business degree. Talk about being true to your word. That promise was kept to his mother, who Bettis told he would definitely return to school when football was all said and done.

In my immediate family, I'll be the first person to graduate from college,” he said. “But most importantly, I have two children. For them to see dad finish a commitment that he set out some 27 years ago, for me to complete that, I think it says a lot to them.”
The Steelers icon is setting a good example for not only his kids, but the younger generation of football players now playing in the league. Education is absolutely crucial, no matter how much money or fame you have.
Congrats to Jerome Bettis on this terrific accomplishment. Commitment at its finest.
