Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker T.J. Watt is looking to step out of his brother's shadow and make a name for himself in just his fourth season in the league. He is close to setting the franchise record for most sacks in his first four seasons as a Steeler with just 1.5 more sacks this season, according to Steelers Depot.

Temporarily sitting in first place is Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champion linebacker LaMarr Woodley, who racked up 39 sacks from 2007 to 2010. Watt comes in at close second with 38 from 2017 to 2020 followed by four-time Pro Bowl linebacker Joey Porter who tallied 30.5 sacks from 1999 to 2002.

Despite being on pace to break the franchise record, Watt is still far from reaching the NFL record. Former defensive end Reggie White comfortably holds the elusive spot with a whopping 70 in his Hall of Fame career.

The former Wisconsin product is in a good position to set the record in their Week 5 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. Opposing starting quarterback Carson Wentz has been among the most sacked players under center this season. He was targeted at least three times in three games including eight times in their Week 1 loss to the Washington Football Team.

Through his first four seasons in the league, Watt is nearly halfway to the franchise sack record held by former Steelers linebacker James Harrison with 80.5 total sacks.

A big 2020 campaign is expected for the 25-year old defensive ace who is poised to land a lucrative deal with the Steelers next season. With two Pro Bowl appearances and a first-team All-Pro selection already under his belt, Watt is on the right track to be one of the league's premier defensive players in the years to come.
