The Los Angeles Rams have had nothing short of a busy NFL offseason retooling their roster to make a stronger push toward the Super Bowl in the 2018 campaign. One of these major moves was the addition of All-Pro defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh via free agency.

The Rams were able to land the 31-year-old on a one-year deal worth $14 million for next season to be a huge part of the defense next season. During his introductory press conference on Friday afternoon, Suh revealed why he choose to ink a short-term contract with Los Angeles, according to Joe Curley of the Ventura County Star.

Suh likely had other feasible options on the table in his various trips in NFL free agency with the Tennessee Titans, New Orleans Saints, New York Jets, and Seattle Seahawks all expressing interest in him. There will likely the opportunity to ink a long-term deal with each of these teams. Rams general manager Les Snead did also indicate that the one-year deal was just one of the options that he had with Los Angeles and chose to take it instead of a multi-year deal.

This is a unique opportunity for Suh to show his worth with a team on the rise that could potentially earn him a lucrative long-term contract next offseason. He is still playing some of the best football of his career and his play next to the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year Aaron Donald and Michael Brockers may be a chance for him to be an even more effective factor on the defensive line.

At the same time, it also allows for the Rams to determine if they want to keep him aboard past this upcoming season as one of the centerpieces defensively alongside Donald for the next several years. If the pairing works out while the team is experiencing much success, it could work out for both sides in the long run.
