Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins isn't afraid to say what is on his mind. With no shortage of strong opinions dancing inside his cranium, the gunslinger recently voiced his frustrations with what the NFL deems as a catch.

Here is Kirk Cousins discussing the ruled non-catch by Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Jesse James.

“I’m not satisfied with it,” Cousins said, when asked about the catch rule on 106.7 The Fan’s Grant and Danny show. “I don’t understand the rule. If that happened in our game, I would understand based on a precedent that’s been set that that’s not a catch and it wouldn’t catch me off guard, but I wouldn’t understand as to why. I wouldn’t know the reasoning. I guess I just don’t know the rule enough.”

NFL referee Tony Corrente tried to offer a clear explanation of the rule.

“In order to have a completed pass, a receiver must survive going to the ground,” he said. “In this case, he had control of the football but he was going to the ground. As he hit the ground, the ball began to roll and rotate and the ball hit the ground and that’s the end of it at that point. … He lost complete control of the football. That was the ruling out of replay.”

By letter of the rule, the call was correct. However, the rule can still be considered dumb.
