The San Francisco 49ers family received some sad news when it was announced that Parys Haralson passed away on Monday at just 37 years old, according to the 49ers' official team statement.
“The 49ers are heartbroken and shocked by the news of Parys' tragic passing. Parys was a beloved member of our organization that lived life with an extraordinary amount of passion and joy, while leaving an indelible mark on everyone he came across. We extend our condolences to Parys' family and loved ones.”
Just a day after Kyle Shanahan's team won their season opener against the Detroit Lions came the unfortunate news. Haralson was a fifth-round pick in the 2006 NFL Draft and played for the 49ers until 2012 when he moved to the New Orleans Saints to finish off his career.
Haralson then returned to the 49ers organization as the Director of Player Engagement and was last in the role in 2018, so his presence is still fresh with much of the team.
Haralson was loved by many, and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network shared his love towards the ex-49er as well.
Such a shame. A great guy gone far too soon. https://t.co/5ISFVncm9H
