The turnaround in this situation is simply remarkable. Just one day—seemingly hours—after he was cut by the Seattle Seahawks, Richard Sherman is already meeting with potential landing spots.
According to Marcus Thompson II of The Athletic, the future Hall of Fame quarterback dined with San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan on Friday night, discussing the prospects of making the Bay Area his next football home.
Adam Schefter of ESPN added to the situation reporting Sherman will meet with the team on Saturday to negotiate a potential contract.
It's ironic. Sherman, 30, was a central figure in the classic 49ers-Seahawks rivalry of the early 2010s.
After the Bay Area NFC West team captured the NFC Championship in 2014—defeating the Atlanta Falcons 28-24—they were forced to face the up-and-coming Seahawks on Championship Sunday in 2014. It was a game for the ages, a hard-hitting throwback affair that was put to bed by Sherman himself when he swatted away a Colin Kaepernick target for Michael Crabtree on a corner route.

Now, it appears he's extremely close to signing on with his most bitter rivals, the San Francisco 49ers. And no, while Michael Crabtree isn't in San Fran anymore, he still makes his home in the Bay Area (Oakland).
Sherman is a product of Compton, California and attended Stanford. The man's California roots are strong.
In seven seasons with the Seahawks, Sherman was named to four Pro Bowls and, always most importantly, an incredible three First-Team All-Pro selections. He represents this generation's most dominant cover-corner and will waltz into the Pro Football Hall of Fame once afforded the opportunity.
Stay tuned for the latest Sherman-to-San Fran news all Saturday long.
