Although the San Francisco 49ers are getting ready to play in the Super Bowl, quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo has been the subject of heavy criticism for much of the season.
Those voices only grew louder after Garoppolo threw just eight passes in the 49ers' NFC Championship Game win over the Green Bay Packers, as some said that Garoppolo was really just along for the ride more than anything else.
But the 28-year-old isn't letting it get to him, saying that he has learned to ignore it.
“Very similar to Sherm (Richard Sherman), I do the same thing. I hear all the stuff and everything,” Garoppolo told reporters, per Ryan Hannable of WEEI. “But you can’t put that out there all the time. It’s just, you have to do with it what you will and take it for what it is. At the end of the day you’ve gotta go out there and play football.”
A lot of the criticism that has been hurled Garoppolo's way throughout the 2019-20 campaign stems from the $137.5 million contract extension he signed with San Francisco in February 2018 in spite having never played a full season.

Then, last season, Garoppolo's season ended after three starts due to a torn ACL.
He finally started all 16 games this year, throwing for 3,978 yards, 27 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.
The 49ers will take on the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl on Feb. 2.
