The San Francisco 49ers have been busy trying to add more firepower to the offense this offseason. Meanwhile, quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is doing everything he can to ensure he can get as much practice as possible.

Garroppolo's 2018 campaign was cut short with a devastating ACL injury. According to Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports, he is expected to be back by training camp.

“It’s very controlled movements and stuff,” Shanahan said Tuesday at the NFL owners meeting. “When he does all that it does look very good, which means he’s getting closer. And that’s why hopefully it will be full-go for training camp and I think we will get a lot of work with him in OTAs also.”

This is certainly an encouraging update for Garoppolo. He will need to get in all the work he can to help the 49ers compete in a tough NFC West Division moving forward.

In many ways, head coach Kyle Shanahan still has yet to work out an ideal game plan centered on his skill set. Training camp will provide them with ample time to find their footing.

Garoppolo's first year as a starter in San Francisco did not go quite as planned after he was injured just three games into the season. Their hopes to potentially compete in the playoffs essentially went down with him. Despite his injury and the relatively small sample size he has provided in his career, the 49ers still seem to have high expectations going into the 2019 NFL season.
