San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo congratulated Tom Brady on his successful career and retirement. After beginning his career under Brady's wing, he has a special connection to the New England Patriots legend.

Cam Inman tweeted Garoppolo's nostalgic mindset Tuesday afternoon.

He compared his relationship to Brady to his with 49ers backup quarterback Trey Lance. “There were times with me and Trey that it felt like me and Tom,” Garoppolo said. He then came to the realization that he is now in the position that Brady was, with Lance learning from him.

There's no doubt that the relationship Brady and Garoppolo have is a special one. The 49ers quarterback said Tuesday that he is “grateful for everything he learned” from Brady, which is undoubtedly a ton.

The Patriots selected Garoppolo in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft and he spent 2014 to 2017 as Brady's backup in New England. He won two Super Bowls with Brady and company until joining the 49ers in 2017.

Fortunately for Lance, he gets to learn from Garoppolo, who learned from Brady. It's like Anakin learning from Obi-Wan, who learned the basics from Yoda. Ultimately, Brady is the Yoda of modern day football. San Francisco fans just have to hope that Lance doesn't betray them and join the dark side of their rivals the Los Angeles Rams or the Dallas Cowboys.
