Deebo Samuel became a superstar for the San Francisco 49ers under head coach Kyle Shanahan. Now, Samuel is looking to move on. The team is reluctant to do so.

Shanahan addressed the Samuel saga after the second day of the NFL Draft. According to Michael Baca of NFL.com, the 49ers head coach said that he didn't rule out trading his star wide receiver but that none of the trades out there made any sense for them.

“You'll consider anything. You have a responsibility to help your organization the most you can,” Shanahan said. “But losing a player like Deebo, it's hard to see how that helps your organization. So you try to look into all the aspects of it and what people are willing to do, and nothing was even remotely close to what we thought would be fair to us or fair for the Niners.”

If any of the trade packages were similar to what the New York Jets were offering, it made sense for Shanahan and company to shut them down. The 49ers have strong receiving options like George Kittle and Brandon Aiyuk but Samuel is in a very unique class.

San Francisco understands that Samuel is very important and that trading him should only be done for a massive trade package. With the draft soon to be over, it's looking like Samuel will remain with the 49ers for the time being.
