Coming off a spectacular rookie campaign in 2019, San Francisco 49ers star Nick Bosa was gearing up for an even better sophomore season. The freshman edge rusher garnered Pro Bowl honors and looked poised to challenge for an All Pro selection when disaster struck – the dreaded torn ACL.
That's the last thing you want to see from your budding star if you're a 49ers fan. Few injuries hamper an athlete's future as badly as major complications in the knee area.
But much to the delight of Niners fans, his superstar teammate Trent Williams claims Bosa isn't just back. He's better than ever before.
Via Rusty Simmons of the San Francisco Chronicle:
“Very few people come back from a major injury and are better than they were when they left,” said Williams, who in March inked a $138 million deal with the 49ers. “I played Nick before he left, and I played him when he got back. I mean, he’s better.”
Given that Williams has featured in every Pro Bowl since 2012, the man probably knows what he's talking about. You'd expect a player who hasn't even played 20 NFL games to keep improving. The fact that Nick Bosa is reportedly doing just that is a huge sigh of relief for 49ers fans coming into the season.
Here's to hoping both Nick Bosa and Trent Williams get off to a roaring start for San Francisco.
