Richard Sherman gave the San Francisco 49ers a major sigh of relief when he passed his physical, allowing him to practice with the team at the start of training camp.

As a result, Sherman earns the $2 million bonus that was written into his contract for passing a physical.

Sherman suffered a devastating Achilles injury last year with the Seattle Seahawks, and there are still some questions about his health. Even though Sherman passed his physical, an Achilles injury can keep a player from truly returning to their 100 percent form.

Sherman hasn't talked a lot about his injury since coming over to the 49ers. He has spent a lot of time talking abut what is wrong with his former team, the Seattle Seahawks.

“They’ve lost their way. It’s as simple as that. They’ve just lost their way. When you make too many mistakes over a long period of time, you kind of dig yourself a hole. And then when you backtrack, you gotta make a bunch of rash decisions to try and fill the hole and hope that it holds up,” Sherman told SI.com.

“But I think as it kind of progressed, you start seeing the writing on the wall. You’re like, ‘Not only are they probably moving in a different direction,’ but it’s like, ‘Ah, well, I kind of want to move in a different direction, too.’ So it happens like that. All great things must come to an end, I guess.”

On Thursday, Sherman told NBC Sports Bay Area's Matt Maiocco that it was “a grind” to get to this point in his recovery. He added that he now feels 100 percent as training camp begins.
