The San Francisco 49ers seem to be getting back a key piece to their offensive line ahead of the preseason finale this week. On Monday, San Francisco activated center Weston Richburg from the physically unable to perform list.
Throughout the offseason and training camp, the 49ers have had a multitude of injuries that have occurred on the roster. Luckily for them, they'll be getting their starting center back into the lineup very soon. Richburg had been recovering from knee and quad surgery.
Before the 2018 season, San Francisco signed Richburg to become the anchor of their offensive line. Richburg had spent four seasons with the New York Giants after being selected in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft.
In his first season with the 49ers organization, Richburg started in 15 games for the team. As a team, San Francisco allowed 48 sacks in 2018 (ninth-most in the NFL).

Once Richburg is ready to assume his normal role, Garland will likely become one of the team's depth pieces at center and guard. Considering how many injuries that the 49ers have in the trenches, Garland will need to remain ready.
As the 49ers enter their third season with Kyle Shanahan as the head coach, their main goal is to protect Jimmy Garoppolo as he returns from a torn ACL. Garoppolo is entering a deciding season with the franchise in 2019 and could use his starting center to assist him.
