The San Francisco 49ers are an up-and-coming team that will likely be featured in more headlines down the road in the near future.

Unfortunately for the 49ers, they aren't looking for any kind of extra attention or publicity. The speculation that they might be featured on HBO's Hard Knocks was not something that the team was ecstatic about.

General manager John Lynch spoke about the possibility of the team being featured on the HBO series.

“It’s not something we would be really excited about. I love the show, but I think some things are best left behind closed doors. I fundamentally have a problem with cutting players and things of that nature [on camera]. It’s not something we’d be thrilled about.”

Other NFL teams such as the Oakland Raiders, Detroit Lions, New York Giants, and the Washington Redskins are amongst the other candidates that can be forced to be featured on the show. Hard Knocks does not always portray a team in a positive light, so it's no surprise why some teams do not want to be a part of the series.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan was also against the team appearing on the series and did not seem too concerned about the matter. The 49ers likely don't want any further attention than need be, especially none that may come off as negative.

San Francisco likely has a lot of work to do this offseason that does not involve being featured on a TV show. The 49ers are a talented team and were affected heavily by injuries this season, so it's likely their main focus is preparing for the 2019 season to the best of their ability.
