After losing to the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship Game, the San Francisco 49ers are eliminated from the Super Bowl race. It was an interesting year, as concerns for the quarterback position have grown throughout the season. However, exciting quarterback prospect Trey Lance sends an emotional shoutout to Jimmy Garoppolo.
According to Nick Wagoner, Trey Lance is more than appreciative of having Jimmy Garoppolo's efforts. Lance seemed like a project entering the league and has all of the potential in the world. He likely learned valuable information sitting behind Garoppolo throughout most of the year. The 49ers should feel great about their future.

It's nice to see young players show so much appreciation towards their teammates. Especially considering Trey Lance sat on the sidelines throughout most of the year. Regardless, the 49ers have a preferable quarterback situation on their hands as the offseason approaches.
Article Continues BelowJimmy Garoppolo receives a ton of flack across the league. Even so, he's proven to be a winner throughout his career. He nearly led the 49ers to a second Super Bowl appearance in three years. That's not something the coaching staff will ignore as they evaluate who will be the starting quarterback moving forward.
The starting quarterback role likely belongs to Lance, but Garoppolo's efforts in the playoffs will make for an intriguing offseason. A handful of teams will be interested in trading for the veteran quarterback, but it's up to the 49ers to accept or decline those offers.
Hopefully, Trey Lance develops into the quarterback the 49ers envisioned with the traded up to draft him. He'll have this entire offseason to ensure his spot on the roster. Having a year to learn behind a decent quarterback like Garoppolo might have been what Lance needed to adjust to the professional level. If so, San Francisco will be in good hands.
