The Houston Texans are facing yet another dilemma at the quarterback position with starter Tom Savage currently in the concussion protocol.

This has potentially pushed third-string quarterback T.J. Yates into the starting lineup in Week 15 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Head coach Bill O'Brien has now voiced this same notion on Monday morning stating that he expects Yates to be under center.

The 30-year-old performed well under these circumstances completing 14 of 26 passes for 175 yards with a pair of touchdowns and no interceptions. The bulk of that came from throws to All-Pro wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, who was the recipient of both touchdowns while tallying up a game-high 11 catches on 16 targets for 146 receiving yards.

Yates has plenty of comfort playing in the Texans' offense having spent five of his first six seasons in the league with the organization. Prior to Sunday, he had last played in an NFL game with the Texans back in the 2015 season where he made four appearances completing 28 of 57 passes for 370 yards with three touchdowns and an interception.

With the Texans officially eliminated from playoff contention, there isn't a greater sense of urgency to get Savage through the concussion protocol. This is especially the case given that the team mishandled the situation by putting him back in the game shortly after he suffered the injury.
